Apply for our Scholarship Awards!

LBN is offering up to one reward of $500 and up to three awards of $200 to persons chosen among eligible volunteers. We expect that we will have excellent applicants for all awards. Financial need will be a significant consideration when there are more qualified applicants than there are awards. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following award criteria:


  • Volunteered with LBN in a leadership capacity (Program Coordinator, Executive Coordinator, or Regional Director)
    • for at least two years to be considered for the $500 award
    • for at least one year to be considered for the $200 award
  • Any student enrolled, either full-time or part-time, in an accredited college or university in the next academic year starting either September or January.


  • All submissions must include a completed online application form and short answer responses
  • A Selection Committee will score the applications based on the following criteria:
    • Completed Digital Application form (see form below)
    • Short Answers (see form below)


  • Short answers to be judged on the following criteria
    • Word processed in 12-point font, double spaced
    • Word count must be included
    • Pages must be numbered
    • Applicant’s name must NOT appear on any page of the short answer responses


  • Marks for the application package will be weighted as follows:
    • Application – 50%
    • Short Answers – 50%
  • The short answers will be evaluated on:
    • Claim and support – 40%
    • Development of ideas – 40%
    • Quality of writing – 10%
    • Presentation and style – 10%

2020 LBN Scholarship Application

  • Please list the terms you have volunteered with LBN for, when those terms took place, and what role you occupied for each.
    Keep in mind that you need to have cumulatively volunteered with us for at least two years to be considered for the $500 award or one year for the $200 award.
  • What schools have you attended and what programs did you do?
  • Please list the name and contact information for two references (professional or character)
  • Please attach a document with 250 word responses to each of the following questions: 1. How have you grown as a leader through your experiences with LBN? 2. What is your most memorable experience with LBN and how so? 3. From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education? 4. Do you think that access to education is a societal problem and if so, what do you think can be done to help?
