Elementary school students who struggle with reading are individually paired up with a high school or university student. Paired mentor/buddies meet regularly in an online Zoom setting. An Executive Coordinator and a Program Coordinator, both senior volunteers, are present at all sessions to lead and assist both mentors and buddies. Our mentors are trained in the fundamentals of reading by our team of BC certified teachers. Sessions are also frequented by our team of teachers who assist our mentors with developing their teaching skills and our coordinators with developing their leadership skills.

We follow a curriculum that incorporates phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, and reading fluency.

We offer 2 terms every year: Fall-Spring term (mid-October to mid-December, February to mid-May) and Summer term (July to mid-August).

See Program Offering for more information.
